New access ramps for Littlemore Village Hall, Oxfordshire

Manifest have worked for some years with the trustees and users of the Village Hall, a vital community resource in the village of Littlemore, south of Oxford.  The Hall is a charming Edwardian building which, with its mellow stone rubble walls and fine gauged brick arches, makes a significant contribution to the beauty of the local Conservation Area.

The Hall has been worked on and extended in a piecemeal and somewhat unsatisfactory manner since the 1960s, and Manifest were commissioned to re-design access arrangements – providing a new suitable ramp to the main entrance on the south front, while converting an existing window to a door opening on to the rear garden, with steps and ramps for ease of access to this important green space.  The existing arched head and Diocletian window were retained above the new door, with new joinery carefully designed to compliment the existing.

Engineers Price & Myers consulted on the structure of the ramps and impacts on the historic building.
