Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Hardmead, Buckinghamshire

Conservative repair works to a redundant historic church.

Manifest are appointed by the Friends of Friendless Churches to inspect and carry out repair works to a number of the churches in their care. The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary lies in the hamlet of Hardmead, where the ancient manorial family commemorated on the wall memorials still lives, and retains a keen interest in the church building.

Listed at Grade I, St Mary’s is a highly significant Medieval church, dating from the 12th to 15th centuries. Structural movements have been identified in several parts of the church, and Manifest are assisting in a comprehensive and ongoing programme of monitoring and repairs. Manifest also carried out the recent quinquennial inspection of the church, required under the Inspection of Churches Measure 1955.
