Timber-Framed Aisled Barn

A conservation management plan.

A local, family-owned company came into possession of this listed, timber-framed aisled barn as part of their purchases in south Oxfordshire, and commissioned Manifest to carry out a detailed fabric inspection.  The barn has been neglected in the recent past, and exhibits classic signs of decay through missing roof tiles and rainwater goods.  These have led to a series of acute problems, including degradation of timber elements, and ground movements caused by excessive water penetration.

Manifest prepared a conservation management plan to allow for rational scheduling of repairs over the tenure of the owning company, in order to secure this beautiful and significant historic barn for the future.
