Repairs to a Cob Barn in Warwickshire
Emergency works and fabric inspections.
Working through a contact with a mud-builder in Cumbria, we were asked to visit a beautiful old farmyard in Warwickshire, and to inspect a small and rather curious open-fronted cob barn, which was showing worrying signs of imminent collapse. A series of large cracks had opened up at the corners of the building, which, by careful measurement and analysis, we were able to show were consistent with changes in ground conditions leading to shallow footings becoming displaced. Emergency repairs were carried out to maintain this listed structure in its current form, before new repairs can be specified.
