New bespoke furniture for a private dwelling, Oxfordshire

Oak furnishings designed and made to fit.

Manifest were commissioned to design and make bespoke fixed furnishings for a private house in Oxfordshire. An intense phase of design and discussion was followed by the preparation of samples and prototypes in our Cowley workshop.

Our experience in the tradition of scribed English oak framing lends itself well to fitted timber furniture in old or uneven houses. Even in this house, which was built in the 21st century, walls were not plumb, and existing skirtings needed to taken into consideration in the designs. Working to a high degree of accuracy, we made four pieces of furniture – a chest of drawers, a shoe rack and bench, a set of shelves, and a series of coat hooks – solving the owner’s storage solutions.

The furnishings were carried out in the highest joinery quality oak boards, finished with natural oils.
