A New Village Hall

An innovative design for a Wiltshire village.

Manifest were invited to draw up designs for a new village hall for a Wiltshire village near Chippenham.  The chosen site shows clear evidence of medieval farming methods, and this became a key inspiration in the design.  A central, oak-framed area provides space for a range of activities, including a skittle alley, which has become a firm favourite in the village in the existing tumble-down hall, which this new project is designed to replace.  A green roof surrounds the framed hall with lower areas, replacing the land lost by the development itself, and blending with the surrounding hillsides.
