A bespoke occasional table, milled from a particular elm tree – designed and made by Manifest.
Our clients requested an elm table, with a design based on an existing footstool. Elm is a beautiful timber, renowned for its twisting grain and fine figuring – yet it is difficult to obtain since Dutch elm disease ravaged the countryside from the 1970s onwards. When a local orchard felled an elm, therefore, they got in touch with us – we milled the larger boards with Face North Forestry (based at the Sylva Foundation near Long Wittenham in Oxfordshire), and milled the smaller pieces ourselves. The table is finished with oils and polishes.
